Terms of Service

Last Updated: March 13, 2026 Effective Date: March 13, 2026

Lep-Q Technologies LLC ("Lep-Q," "we," "us," or "our") operates Sensemaker, a read-it-later and knowledge management application available at https://sensemaker.app (the "Service"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Service.

By creating an account or using Sensemaker, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Account Registration

To use Sensemaker, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password, or by authenticating through Google OAuth.

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

2. The Service

Sensemaker allows you to save, read, highlight, annotate, and organize web content, documents, newsletters, and RSS feeds. The Service includes both free and subscription-based features.

2.1 Free Features

All users can:

  • Save articles, PDFs, and EPUBs
  • Read content in a distraction-free reader
  • Create highlights and annotations
  • Organize content with tags and topics
  • Subscribe to RSS feeds and newsletters
  • Search their library
  • Export highlights

2.2 Subscription Features

Paid subscribers additionally receive:

  • AI-generated content summaries
  • AI auto-tagging of new content
  • AI-suggested highlights and content connections
  • Weekly digest emails

Subscription pricing, billing, and cancellation are handled through Stripe. See Section 5 for billing terms.

3. Your Content

3.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you save, create, or upload to Sensemaker. This includes articles you save, highlights you create, notes you write, tags you define, and documents you upload.

3.2 License to Us

By using the Service, you grant Lep-Q a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This includes:

  • Storing your saved articles, highlights, and documents
  • Processing content through AI features (summaries, tagging, suggested highlights) when you have an active subscription
  • Transmitting your content to your devices

This license ends when you delete your content or your account.

3.3 Content Restrictions

You may not use the Service to store, transmit, or distribute:

  • Content that infringes on intellectual property rights
  • Malware, viruses, or malicious code
  • Content that violates applicable law

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these restrictions.

4. AI Features and Data Processing

4.1 How AI Processes Your Content

When you are a subscriber, Sensemaker uses AI (currently Claude by Anthropic, with support for other providers) to:

  • Generate summaries of content in your library
  • Classify and tag content by topic
  • Identify semantically connected passages across articles

4.2 AI Data Handling

  • Your content is sent to the AI provider for processing and is not retained by the AI provider beyond the immediate request
  • AI-generated outputs (summaries, tags, suggested highlights) are stored in your Sensemaker account
  • AI processing only occurs for subscribers who have the relevant features enabled
  • You can disable AI auto-tagging in Settings at any time

4.3 No Training on Your Data

Your content is not used to train AI models. It is processed only to generate outputs for your personal use within the Service.

5. Subscription and Billing

5.1 Pricing

The subscription is $8 per month, billed monthly through Stripe. Pricing may change with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

5.2 Payment

Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number. Stripe's terms apply to payment processing.

5.3 Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through Settings > Billing > Manage Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to subscription features until the period ends.

5.4 Refunds

You may request a refund within 15 days of your initial subscription. Refund requests are limited to one per account. Submit refund requests through Settings > Billing > Request Refund.

6. Newsletter and Email Processing

6.1 Newsletter Inboxes

Sensemaker provides unique email addresses (under inbox.sensemaker.app) for receiving newsletter subscriptions. Emails sent to these addresses are:

  • Processed to extract article content
  • Stored as articles in your library
  • Not forwarded, shared, or used for any other purpose

6.2 Confirmation Email Detection

Sensemaker automatically detects subscription confirmation emails and routes them separately from regular newsletter content.

7. Document Storage

PDF and EPUB files you upload are stored on Cloudflare R2 (object storage). Documents are:

  • Accessible only to your account via signed, time-limited URLs
  • Not indexed, shared, or made publicly accessible
  • Deleted when you delete the corresponding library item or your account

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to access accounts or data belonging to other users
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download content from the Service
  • Interfere with the Service's infrastructure or performance
  • Resell access to the Service

9. Service Availability

We aim to keep Sensemaker available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control.

We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from Service downtime.

10. Termination

10.1 By You

You can delete your account at any time from Profile > Danger Zone. Account deletion removes all your data from our systems.

10.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. We will attempt to notify you before termination except in cases of egregious violations.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lep-Q Technologies LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict of law principles.
